Val Vollmin

Meet Val from Eckville, Alberta. Val was most recently elected to the Pickleball Canada Board of Directors in June 2023.

Val has been involved in pickleball since 2010.  She was a founding member of the Red Deer Pickleball Club in 2013. She served as Vice President of the Club in 2013 and as President from 2014-2019. Val was instrumental in the building of the first 20 court outdoor facility in Canada. The Red Deer Club has grown from a small group of less than 30 members in 2013 to over 800 members today.

Val joined the PCO Board of Directors in Oct 2015 and served as President until January of 2018.  In 2015, PC had less than 2000 members and by the time she left in 2018, we had several Provinces on board and over 10,000 members.  She was involved in starting Pickleball Canada on the journey to becoming a National Sport Organization.  She received an award from Pickleball Canada in August of 2021 for her leadership in developing the sport of pickleball in Canada.

Val is currently a Certified Referee and has been since 2017. She was Head Referee and ran the Ref desk for the Canadian Nationals in 2021 and for our annual Red Deer tournament in 2022.

Val is currently Treasurer for the Sun City Festival Pickleball Club in Arizona of over 1500 members, and she worked with Investors Group as a Certified Financial Planner for 16 years.  She is married and has 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
