Volunteer

Pickleball Canada values the volunteer.  We know that we have a diverse, talented, and dedicated pool of volunteers in Canada, without which, pickleball in Canada would not be where it is today.

Volunteering promotes civic engagement, gives pickleball a voice, and enables participation in the development of our sport in our communities, from coast to coast. Volunteers provide the expertise that supports local action by addressing community challenges while strengthening the game at the national level.

Celebrating Volunteers

Is there a volunteer in your community that you think deserves to be recognized for their efforts? We want to know about them! Complete the Volunteer Spotlight form below to tell us a little bit more about the individual you would like to celebrate and how their efforts have made a difference in pickleball. Pickleball Canada will be sharing Volunteer Spotlights throughout the year on our website and social media.

How and where can I volunteer?

Volunteer roles can vary in level of responsibility, commitment, and duration depending on the needs of the group seeking volunteers. If you are looking to get involved but aren’t sure where to start, determine how much time you are able to commit and what skill sets you already have to help you identify what type of role might be a good fit.

Some common volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sitting on a board of directors at the club, provincial/territorial, or national level
  • Sitting on a committee at the club, provincial/territorial, or national level
  • Event crew for local, provincial, and national tournaments
  • Community ambassador programs
  • Organizing or supervising club activities

You probably have a wide range of skills or experiences that would make you an excellent volunteer! While just being passionate about pickleball and wanting to give back to the community are all you really need, some common areas of expertise that you may be able to provide in a volunteer role include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration
  • Court/facility construction or maintenance
  • Equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging
  • Finance
  • Governance
  • Information technology
  • Marketing
  • Officiating
  • Para pickleball
  • Program development
  • Ratings
  • Recreational pickleball
  • Risk management
  • Social media and communications
  • Tournament management
  • Translation
  • Website design/management
  • Youth pickleball

Pickleball Canada’s Volunteer Program is currently being revised, so more information on open volunteer roles, how to get involved, and volunteer recognition will be available shortly.

If you are interested in volunteering in the meantime, reach out to your provincial/territorial pickleball association or local clubs to see what opportunities might be available.
