Beverley Walker

Vice President, Operations

Meet Beverley from Calgary, Alberta. Bev was elected to the Pickleball Canada Board of Directors in June 2023.

Bev was introduced to pickleball in Arizona, while on a trial semi-retirement stint.  Returning to Calgary, she started playing pickleball at West Hillhurst Community Association.  Soon after, in 2012, she became a founding member of the Calgary Pickleball Club and sat on that Board until 2017, serving as President for the last two years. During the winter of 2015, Bev led the process of forming Pickleball Alberta, in consultation with several Alberta clubs.  The first organizational meeting for Pickleball Alberta was held in June 2016, courtside at a tournament during a rain delay.  She held the role of President until September 2019 and, as Past President continued to be a voting member of the Pickleball Alberta Board until September 2022.  She has continued representing Alberta during the recent national PCO Bylaw discussions and chairing the Pickleball Alberta Screening Committee.

Bev worked in Human Resources, principally in the area of pay, pensions, and benefits for over 40 years both as an employee and an independent contractor.  She has considerable experience advising corporate executives and Boards of Directors regarding total rewards on domestic, expatriate, and international issues.  Prior to becoming an independent contractor, she held the role of Vice President, Compensation for TransCanada Pipelines.  During her career, she was fortunate to work internationally:  on assignment in Tanzania and then directly with international offices in South America, South East Asia, Norway, and the UK.

Bev is married with two children and two grandchildren.  In addition to pickleball, her interests include gardening, hiking, Pilates, and attending theatre and musical performances.  In addition to Pickleball Alberta, she currently volunteers for The Nick Folk Music Club and her church.
