Pickleball Canada National Open Championship

Pickleball Canada National Open Championship July 7 - 8, 2012

The National tournament which was held in Abbotsford, B.C. drew 168 athletes from across Canada and the United States to a pair of host sites, Abbotsford Recreation Centre and Yale Secondary School. These two locations provided 14 indoor courts for 20 events of Mens and Womens Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles in Open and Age brackets.

The Mayor of Abbotsford opened the tournament with the singing of the National anthem. In attendance, eight Pickleball Canada Directors including President and Past President, 15 Area Ambassadors, 30 volunteers and 15 referees.

Top teams came from most Canadian provinces. The USA teams included players from Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and Texas.

The top Canadian champions included Luba Zhekhovskaya, Denis Zhekhovskiy, Carol Haworth, John Kusch, Elaine Lerner, Peter Darvill, Diane Hill and Dave Touchet.
