The Newmarket Golden Games, for ages 55 years plus, recently completed its second year of the tournament. Over 100 participants from within the region competed in 4 different events hosted at both the Newmarket Seniors’ Meeting Place and The Magna Centre’s Tim Horton’s Gym. Events included; Badminton, Pickleball, Shuffleboard and Carpet Bowling. Although a fun-based approach was emphasized by those who played, it was very easy to witness a high degree of athleticism, teamwork and the dedication that went into preparation for the games. A big thank you to the organizers, volunteers and participants who made it all possible. Stay tuned for the 3rd annual Newmarket Golden Games early 2010.
